Borrow a lesson from improv comedians to make negotiation easier and more constructive.

Improv comedians rely on the “yes, and” rule — whatever your scene partner says, you go with it to keep the scene moving. Use “yes, and” to get past stuck moments in a negotiation. Keep it moving by acknowledging what they just said, and giving them something to build on.
